Retail. Franklin Lakes

This 1,700-square-foot retail interior is conceived as an immersive brand environment that translates identity into space through materiality, geometry, and lighting. Located within a newly developed mall in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, the project establishes a strong visual presence while maintaining clarity, warmth, and operational efficiency.

The primary architectural gesture is a honeycomb-inspired wall system reflecting the brand, derived from natural geometry and realized through precise digital fabrication. A field of hexagonal modules creates a rhythmic backdrop that balances repetition with variation- combining solid, perforated, and open frames. Select modules integrate LED lighting, introducing depth, visual hierarchy, and subtle animation that guides the customer’s fun and dynamic experience across the space.

From a fabrication and sustainability perspective, the modular wall system prioritizes efficiency, adaptability, and longevity. CNC-milled components ensure precision, reduce material waste, and enable repeatable production, while modular assembly allows for straightforward installation, repair, and future reconfiguration. Integrated LED lighting minimizes energy use and enhances material expression without applied ornament.

Materiality is central to the design intent. Warm wood tones are paired with a vibrant color palette to create contrast between tactile surfaces and graphic clarity. The restrained material selection reinforces brand recognition while fostering a welcoming, human-scaled atmosphere within a high-traffic commercial setting.

Overall, the project demonstrates how material intelligence, digital fabrication, and modular design can elevate a compact retail footprint into a memorable, brand-driven environment- one that is efficient, adaptable, and aligned with contemporary standards of sustainability and craft.
